THE LIEBSTER AWARD

by - July 14, 2017

A few days ago I've been tagged by the lovely Courtney from Unfiltered Mama for the Liebster award. Here is some quick info on what this tag is all about; the tag was designed to help new bloggers be discovered and to connect with the rest of the blogging community. Here is how it works:

  • Recognize who tagged you and promote their blog on your blog (checked & checked)
  • Answer all questions asked to you (keep reading and you'll find my answers)
  • Create 11 NEW questions (this was the hard part)
  • Tag 11 people (clearly I failed this one
  • Let them know they've been nominated (everyone has been tag on Twitter & their blogs are linked)
Questions from Unfiltered Mama below:

1. What type of blogger are you? How did you get where you are right now?
I consider myself a personal blogger with a mix of it all. I'm still developing my blog and where I fall as a blogger, but if you read my posts you can see this blog has no niche. I'm all over the place yet again it all makes sense to me- and I'm hoping it makes sense to my readers as well. I'm a newbie to this blogging world (although I've been dealing with my blog since 2011-but that is a long story). So let's just say I've been doing this for only a few months now.
Twitter has definitely helped me get to where I am at the moment, it has been the best way for me to promote my blog and for that, I appreciate this whole community. I've been able to learn many tips from fellow bloggers and I have come across some amazing blogs because of Twitter.

2. When do you find time to blog?
This is one of my many struggles as sometimes it is very hard for me to find time to blog-balancing work, social life, and personal life. I usually do most of my blogging after work, although lately, I have included it into my quality time with my boyfriend- #priorities. I also find myself "blogging" at work since I'm always writing ideas and starting posts on my notebook (actually started answering these questions at work). -ha!

3. Out of all your published posts, which one is your favorite? Why?
It's funny because this post is actually not the post with the most views on my blog but it is my favorite one and the reason I started blogging again. My all time favorite post AND most important one is Mental Health-How important? In this post, I get a bit more personal and share bits and pieces of my mental health story (Go check it out if you haven't!). This post is the reason why I started blogging and that is because after I hit publish I made it my mission to get it out there. I needed the post to be accessible to anyone in the hopes that one day it will touch those who needed the reminder; that they are not alone, that it's normal for this to happen, that they can get help and this too shall pass. The minute I started focusing on my blog and trying to get it out there I slowly started to feel like my old self again- this is why I say this blog has helped me find myself

4. What do you enjoy doing in your free time, besides blogging?
I love to enjoy life- meaning trying new things, enjoying the time off with family, friends or my boyfriend. A lot of me time and of course, and food. I love to eat so anytime I can I love going out to new restaurants, trying new food and just overall enjoy what surrounds me the best way I can.

5. If you could travel to any place in the world, where would you go?
Paris. I'm in love with this city ever since I can remember. It will definitely be a dream come true the day I finally get to visit. Lately, I've fallen in love with Greece as well, it is such a beautiful place and I would love to visit it one day.

6. Are you a book reader? What book would you recommend everyone to read?
Sadly not as much as before, I haven't really read a book and finished it in about two years. I've been meaning to buy "Self Made: Becoming Empowered, Self-Reliant, and Rich in Every way"- by Nely Galan which I have heard great reviews about, and honestly look at that title- who wouldn't want to read it? Also "Letters, to Women like me" by Mirtha Michelle Castro Marmol with also great reviews. Funny thing is my brother-in-law just gifted me a book that I will be starting hopefully over the weekend, "Two ways: Washington Heights Drug Dealer Turns around" by Salvador Sabino.

7. Have you had any negative experience with blogging? What did you do to overcome it?
I guessed so far I've been lucky as I haven't had any negative experience per say. Just the usual follow-to-unfollow trend people on Instagram have going on which affects us especially when every follower counts. I have learned to just unfollow them back and focus on those that honestly want to follow me and see what I'm about.

8. Where are you from? Favorite place to go in your town?
I live and was raised in Boston, MA (but was born in the Dominican Republic).  I love my city, it's beautiful, but my favorite place will have to be any good restaurants. If its good food and good sangria I'm there. I don't go out a lot to explore the city because I'm always working, but I do have a beautiful park near my house which has to be my all time favorite park. Boston is a beautiful city to visit during the summer, so many places to see that sadly I have yet done myself.

9. What has surprised you the most about blogging and its large community?
You said it, how large the blogging community is, has to be my biggest surprise. I had zero idea how big it actually was until I joined Twitter. I have followed few bloggers before but I never knew much about the community. I feel like I'm building friendships with some people in this community and I love it, never imagine that was going to happen.

10. What are your long-term goals for your blog?
I want my blog to reach its maximum potential. I have created To You, From A as a one-stop for the average girl like myself. Where I bring a bit of my life- lifestyle as well as personal, advice- beauty and professional, inspiration as well as a place to help you save the next time you shop online. I like to think To You, From A is a mix of all of the types of blogs I follow and read in one, but my own version. I want to be able to help women in any way I can, even if that is helping them find their next outfit on a budget, or by sharing personal struggles- that is what I'm here for. I'm trying to create a platform where I can no only inspire women but also help them (check out my #girlboss category). I want this blog to be the one-stop my younger self was looking for, and also the place that my present self and future self will continue to come back to as time goes by.

11. Name something you can't live without and explain why?
-Is not a something but a someone (more than one person) which it will be my family. I am a mama's girl as well as a daddy's girl. I'm very close with my sisters and I consider my best friend family so she falls into this group. My boyfriend is also my best friend and my family so we can't leave him behind.

To follow the rules, I nominate the following bloggers;
1. Linda from LindaTalksBeauty.com
3. The High Street Honey from cheapclothes4heauxsblog.wordpress.com
4. Valerie from southernbelleinthewest.com
5. Jackie from thatswhatsupblog.com

Here are my Questions:
1. What is the meaning/story behind your blog name?
2. Does your blog have a niche? Why or why not?
3. Did anyone inspire you to start your blog? If so, who?
4. Are you a part-time blogger or full-time blogger? If part-time, is being a full-time blogger the goal?
5. What was your most recent #girlboss moment? (something you achieved because you a badass) blogging or personal wise.
6. What is one tip/advice have you learned while blogging that you would give to a new or fellow blogger?
7. For how long have you been blogging?
8.  What is the next thing you're working on checking off your bucket list?
9. What are 3 random facts about yourself your readers don't know yet?
10. Who is your spirit animal?
11. If you would stop blogging today, what is one thing you would take away from this experience?

Remember to tag me when you publish your answers so I can check them out.

I want to give a very special THANK YOU to Courtney for thinking of me and nominating me in this tag. I was very nervous when I saw the tag but extremely happy I got to answers these questions. Again head over to Courtney's blog at Unfilteredmama.wordpress.com and learn her story, you will love her blog as much as I do.
